Download the Graph Paper & Sketch Instructions. Store the file on your computer. Open the file and print it. Keep the Sketch instruction sheet with you for quick reference

You will need:
Tape measure and/or a Laser measuring device
Clip-board
Pencil and pen

We would strongly recommend using an erasable black ink pen instead of a pencil for the drawing, as this will show up much better when the plans are faxed to us.
  1. Quick & Simple Plans – Offer you an outline sketch plan and can be drawn on regular paper.

    1. Write on top of the paper the following:
      Property name and reference
      Your name
      Your email
    2. Simply sketch the outline of the property’s external wall
    3. Sketch in the interior walls
    4. Sketch in position of windows and doors
    5. Clearly write in the room names and wall measurements
(if you do not want the room sizes mentioned on your finished plans please note that on your sketch, however, we will still need the measurements to complete the plans).

  2. Detailed Plans – Offers the best and most accurate results but will obviously take longer and requires the use of the Graph paper. However, you should still be able to complete the drawing in around 45 minutes.

    1. Write on top of the paper the following:
      Property name and reference
      Your name
      Your email
    2. Starting from an outside corner of the property measure and sketch the external wall, including any doors and windows. Turn in the direction of the next wall and repeat the process until you have completed the perimeter.
    3. Using that outline as the Base Map, measure and draw in the interior walls, detailing location of doors and openings as you go.
    4. Then visually sketch in windows, fixed equipment and major appliances
      The following check-list may help:
      All walls
      Windows
      Door openings
      Kitchen appliances
      Sinks
      Tubs
      Showers
      Toilets
      Fireplace
      Stairs
    5. Clearly write in the room names and wall measurements (if you do not want the room sizes mentioned on your finished plans please note that on your sketch, however, we will still need the measurements to complete the plans).
    6. Review your Drawing. The shape should match the outline of the house and confirm that you have included all the items on the check list
